MS 7144 Lispenard Seabury Crocker collection of Japanese maps

The collection consists of forty-five (45) Japanese maps collected by Lispenard Seabury Crocker while stationed with her husband in Japan in the 1930s. The maps are woodblock prints, drawings, and photomechanical prints dating from the late seventeenth through the early twentieth centuries. They have been mounted on cloth and/or paper backing and descriptive titles in English were affixed to the mounts by the collector. Please note that the contents of the collection and the language and terminology used reflect the context and culture of the time of its creation. As an historical document, its contents may be at odds with contemporary views and terminology and considered offensive today.
