Katelynd Anderson
Interim Director, Anacostia Community Museum
Katelynd Anderson is the interim director of the Anacostia Community Museum. Anderson has been with the Smithsonian for more than five years, most recently serving as the museum’s interim deputy director. In that role, she oversaw and coordinated all facets of public programming, public affairs, curatorial, and museum administration and operations. She also expanded the education and public program departments to create mission-driven, community-centered programming.
Before joining the Smithsonian, Anderson worked at American University, where she led annual fund direct marketing campaigns, coordinated social media appeals and managed Giving Day efforts, which resulted in a significant increase in participation. Prior to this, she worked for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, where she developed and executed long- and short-term sponsorship and fundraising strategies, raising over $5 million annually.
