Charlotte Gaither

Charlotte Gaither is the director of constituent engagement in the Smithsonian’s Office of Advancement, overseeing leadership volunteer programs, online engagement and fundraising, communications, stewardship and advancement events.

Prior to this position, Gaither was the director of campaign volunteer management for six years, managing the Institution’s work with the Smithsonian National Board and National Board Alumni, and supporting the regional campaign volunteer program. From 2008 to 2012, Gaither worked as deputy director of development at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, managing all areas of advancement. Previously, she worked at the National Portrait Gallery in foundation and corporate relations and as a gift officer in the Office of Advancement.

Gaither came to the Smithsonian in 2007 following an earlier career in banking. She has a master’s degree in museum studies from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Colorado College.
