Dixie Selden

Dixie Selden was a painter and portraitist working in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She was a founding member of the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati and exhibited her subtle, impressionist landscapes and seascapes throughout the region. Selden was also an active traveler, taking extensive trips across Europe, Mexico, and parts of Africa and Asia. Her journeys were the main source of inspiration for her paintings, and the postcards she collected of various locations served as visual souvenirs when the portability of a camera was an issue.
