Community Sports in DC

Anacostia Community Museum

Balls, trophies, boxing gloves…all remind us of the significance of sports in our communities. Explore objects and photographs that speak to the spontaneity of a pick-up game in the park, the school rivalry of team sports, or the friendly competition of neighborhood recreation leagues in Washington, D.C. People of all ages and abilities can participate, whether as players or spectators. See how sports bring urban communities together. Game on!
