About

The National Museum of African Art is the only national museum in the United States dedicated to the collection, exhibition, conservation, and study of the arts of Africa. On exhibit are the finest examples of traditional and contemporary art from the entire continent of Africa.

Highlights

The Walt Disney-Tishman African Art Collection; Yinka Shonibare's Wind Sculpture VII;  Currents: Water in African Art; Visionary: Viewpoints on Africa's Arts.

Parking

There is no public parking facility for Smithsonian museums on the National Mall. A limited number of city-operated metered parking spaces are available, including several accessible parking spaces.

Reserved parking near the museums can be purchased in advance through ParkWhiz.

Dining

Visit the Moongate Cafe at the National Museum of Asian Art next door.

Shopping

The Museum Store offers a wide selection of merchandise inspired by the collections and the arts and cultures of Africa. Some items for sale include; African jewelry, textiles, handicrafts, musical recordings, books, exhibition catalogues, posters and postcards. You can also shop online.
