Summary

Letters; a journal, 1908-1922, 1939-1940; a record of Dawson's painting and sculpture, 1904-1963; and an exhibition catalog.
REEL 64: Letters received including, 11 from Walter Pach of the Association of American Painters and Sculptors, 7 from Dudley Crafts Watson as Director of the Milwaukee Art Society, and letters from Jerome Blum, from Chicago journalist Hi Simousy, and from G. G. Wing, president of the Ludington State Bank, for which Dawson painted a mural. Also included is a xerox of a journal, 1908-1922, 1939-1940, in which Dawson comments on: work as a draftman for Holabird and Roche, Chicago, and other architectural firms, meetings with Gertrude Stein, Arthur Davies, Dudley Watson and Walter Pach; the Armory Show, the Montross Gallery Show and the subsequent tour; meetings with Margaret Anderson and Jane Heap. Entries after 1914 record domestic affairs on Dawson's farm in Ludington, with intermittent comments on his painting and sculpture.
