    Object Details

    maker

    Wheeler, Albert Harry

    Description

This folded paper model is a dissected cube. It contains within it an eight-pointed star and six five-sided polyhedra. The five-sided polyhedra are hinged and may be rearranged to form a regular dodecahedron less a cube in the center, a pentagonal dodecahedron and an eight-pointed star. The model fits snugly in a paper box, folded in the shape of a cube. Another cube that would fit into the center is MA.304723.298. Hence, combining MA.304723.312 and MA.304723.298, one has two cubes that may be rearranged to form a regular dodecahedron, a pentagonal dodecahedron, and an eight-pointed star.
    This is Wheeler's model 766. Compare MA.304723.298 and MA.304723.312.
