On view are portrayals of animals, the majority in sculpture, as reminders in African art of man's dependence on the animal world for physical and emotional well-being. In four thematic sections, animals are viewed as examples for human behavior; seen as representatives of power; considered as symbols of spiritual or supernatural power; and as mediators between man and the supernatural.
