On view are masks, textiles, and sculpture by traditional African artists in an exhibition tracing African encounters with outside influences. Beginning with the arrival of Portuguese explorers in the 15th century and ending with the influences of colonization, the show also includes early and late contacts with Christianity, the slave trade, and made-for-export African art.
