On view is a 16 1/2-inch wooden oshe Shango, a staff carried by devotees of Shango, the god of thunder worshipped by the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria. The staff features a female figure and child.
The exhibit commemorates the first anniversary of the opening of the African Art Museum on the Mall.
