This exhibition features the various objects and related paraphernalia that have been used across Africa to facilitate trade and measure wealth; catalogs the types of objects used—cowries, beads, rolled fabric, metal blades, and gold weights; and focuses on how African monies were incorporated into expressions of political and magical power, prestige, and status.
