Description
Landscape sketch showing a view of Blue Hill and its environs on a cold winter evening from the artist's estate near Hudson, New York, known as Olana. In distance, purple mountains are partly illuminated in orange by the sinking sun. Above, twisting formations of purple, orange, and cream clouds allow blue sky to peek through along upper margin. Covered in trees, Blue Hill is visible in the foreground at right.
