Steel vaccinator with “WHITTEMORE’S / PATENT / FEB. 20, 1866” and “MADE BY / CODMAN & SHURTLEFF / BOSTON” inscriptions. Amos Whittemore was an inventive machinist in Cambridge, Mass.
