Summary
This small rocket launcher toy was marketed as based on the popular "Captain Video and his Video Rangers" television show, which aired via the DuMont television network from 1949-1956. It was the first science fiction adventure show on TV.
Several "Captain Video" toys and comic books were produced during this period. In September 1951, it was announced that the Lido Toy Company, New York City, were manufacturing a range of plastic Captain Video toys. The bases for this rocket-launching toy both have the "Captain Video" logo printed on them.
Collector Michael O'Harro donated this toy set to the Museum in 1993.
