In the 1950s, when he first began working with Peter Voulkos at the Otis Art Institute, Paul Soldner was focused on creating functional vessels such as this teapot. Here, the multiple glazes contrast with the natural beauty of the raw clay. Soldner often added surface texture to his pieces as seen here in the band of small circles on the bottom of the pot.
