A. Stanley Rand (1932-2005), was a herpetologist specializing in frog communication. In 1964, Rand was appointed a Biologist at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) in Panama. From 1974 to 1979, he served as Assistant Director at STRI, and in 1979 was named Senior Biologist.

Summary

A. Stanley Rand in Panama on the Old Gamboa Road. He is holding equipment to capture the sound of frogs and there is a small frog sitting on the microphone in his hand. Rand a herpetologist began his work at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in 1964 and retired in 1998.
