Description (Brief)

Sarajevo Winter Olympics pin, 1984. The pin is rectangular with a black enamel ground and the Olympic rings in gold at the top of the pin. The snowflake design for the Sarajevo games is in red in the center of the pin.
The 1984 Winter Olympics, also known as the Games of the XIV Olympiad were held in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia with 49 countries, 1,272 athletes participating. This was the first Olympics held in a socialist state. Disabled skiing was a demonstration sport at these Games. Scott Hamilton won the gold in men’s figure skating, while American Rosalynn Sumners took silver as Katerina Witt took the gold. American twins Phil and Steve Mahar took gold and silver in the slalom, the first twins to do so. The Soviet Union won the medal count with 25 with the United States tying for 5th place with Sweden.
