Summary
Designed to sustain an Apollo crew of three for up to 48 hours after splashdown, this training rucksack contains equipment that would protect astronauts from the elements while at sea. Contents of the typical rucksack #2 were a three-person life raft, a CO2 cylinder, a sea anchor, dye markers, lanyards, and three sunbonnets. This rucksack only contains the raft and two CO2 cylinders.
NASA transferred this rucksack to the Smithsonian Institution in 1977.
