Description

This flyer is printed in German and torn in several places. It describes the capabilities of 1986.0633.01, a wheel and disc planimeter invented in the mid-19th century. It was printed by Carl Gerold & Son in Vienna and is marked in ink: Draht No. 4. Although its draft number is higher than that marked on 1986.0633.02, this copy has numerous editing marks. Changes in the text suggest that this flyer predates 1986.0633.02. It is signed Chr. Starke, presumably Georg Christoph Starke (1794–1865), the manufacturer of the Wetli & Starke Planimeter.

The photograph also shows 1986.0633.02, a newer copy of the flyer; three tacks and a key that were found in the case for 1986.0633.01; and a heavy spring around a bolt with a hook that was received with the object but apparently does not belong to it.
