Object Details

Manufacturer

ILC Industries Inc.

Summary

This is a white Apollo spacesuit that bears the designation A5-L. That means that it was the fifth out of seven generations of Apollo spacesuits that ILC Industries made for NASA's Apollo program. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin wore A7-L spacesuits on the surface of the Moon. This suit was either used for testing or was a demonstration suit for discussion. It has blue neck ring and has no identification patches. The life support connectors and the thermal boot covers and soles are missing. There were no helmets or gloves with the suit, either.
NASA Johnson Space Center transferred this spacesuit to the museum after the Apollo program.
