    Description

A color digital print photograph portrait of Pat Evans and Isaac Hayes captured by Anthony Barboza during a photoshoot for Essence magazine. The two are depicted standing side-by-side against a light gray studio backdrop.
Evans, on the left, wears a long olive green halter dress with matching green shoes. At her waist is a ribbon belt with thin gold, red, blue, orange, and white stripes and a large, gold pendant suspended at the center. The pendant is shaped like a human face with a slightly opened mouth, high cheekbones, and closed eyes. Evans also wears two gold bangles on her arms: one on her proper right forearm, and the other over her proper left bicep. Her right elbow is bent, and she is resting her hand on her collarbone. Her left arm is tucked behind her back. Evan’s head is shaved, and her face is turned in profile towards Haye’s shoulder, on the right. Hayes is depicted standing with arms akimbo and with his head tilted upwards and slightly towards the right. His bare torso is draped with heavy, linked, gold chains and he is wearing a boldly patterned orange, black, and white cape draped around his shoulders. He is also wearing black pants with two white fur rings on each pant cuffs, brown shoes and dark sunglasses.
An inscription in black ink written in the bottom left corner reads [Pat Evans & ISSAC[sic] HAYS[sic] 1971 1/50]. The photographer’s signature, in black ink in the bottom right corner, reads [A. Barboza]. On the verso, handwritten in black ink near the top center is an inscription that reads [Pat Evan & ISSAC[sic] Hays[sic] 1971 / 1/50 / Anthony Barboza ©].
