Summary

This vehicle permit pass allowed people to park and witness one of the test flights of the space shuttle orbiter Enterprise. Although the Enterprise never flew into space, testing of the Enterprise at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center demonstrated that a wings-and-wheels spacecraft design could work. The badge belonged to Dennis Jenkins, a consulting aerospace engineer for the Space Shuttle Program, and author of Space Shuttle: The History of the National Space Transportation System, a definitive book detailing the development and first 100 flights of the space shuttles.
This vehicle permit pass was donated to the National Air and Space Museum by Dennis Jenkins in September 2011
