Summary
This is a maneuver hand controller used in the Gemini program. Located beneath the left control panel inside the cabin, it had centering springs and six switches, one for each of the two directions along the pitch, yaw, and roll axes. Movement of the handle in any of these six directions initiated corresponding spacecraft movement. Although S/C #5 is stamped on the object, it is unclear whether it actually flew on Gemini V. It is not known who manufactured the artifact. NASA transferred it to NASM in 1972.
