Description
Landscape sketch showing a view of a large tree in the dense woods of Maine. In the foreground, a tree with a slender trunk grows between two large, moss-covered boulders, at left. Dominating the composition at center, a colossal tree trunk with in immense diameter rises out of the forest floor and extends out of view. Dappled sunlight falls upon portions of the tree and the moss beside it. In the background, several dark tree trunks are loosely rendered among a mass of green vegetation.
