Description

Program for a National Football League (NFL) game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Chicago Cardinals, held on Sunday October 2, 1938 at Brooklyn's Ebbet's Field. In the game, Brooklyn beat Chicago 13-0. Chicago would finish the season last in the NFL Western Division with a record of 2-9. The Brooklyn Dodgers finished the season third in the NFL Eastern Division with a record of 4-4-3.
The program features an image of halfback Beattie Feathers (1909-1979) who played college football for the University of Tennessee (1931-1933) before becoming professional. In the NFL, he starred for the Chicago Bears (1934-1937) Brooklyn Dodgers (1938-1939) and Green Bay Packers (1940).
After his playing career Feathers coached college football and baseball, spending time at Appalachian State, North Carolina State, Texas Tech and Wake Forest.
