    Summary

    This type of fire extinguisher was used in Apollo spacecraft and the Skylab space station. Several fire sensors and extinguishers were located in Skylab as a precaution in case of an open fire or a fire smoldering behind panels. This particular unit was not flown in space but was used in engineering tests. Transferred from NASA, the fire extinguisher in now mounted near the galley-wardroom of the backup Skylab orbital workshop displayed in the Museum.
