    Description

This Dennis Awtrey basketball card is number 139 in a series of 264 that was manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1972-1973 National Basketball Association season. The front of the card features a posed picture of the Philadelphia 76ers center on a yellow background. The card’s reverse features a small cartoon image illustrating the factoid that “Dennis Averaged 19.7 in 85 games for the Santa Clara Broncos,” as well as a short biography and career statistics. The front of the card features a typo, as it omits the “E” from Awtrey’s last name.
Awtrey played 12 years in the NBA from 1970-1982 with the Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, and Portland Trail Blazers. Awtrey played in the NBA Finals with the Suns in 1976, who lost to the Boston Celtics, and with the SuperSonics in 1979, who defeated the Washington Bullets for the NBA title.
