Even objects as tradition based as gourd vessels are influenced by new ways and products. This gourd hourglass-shaped vessel was sold as a cup with a gourd in the form of an imported teapot.
Description
Hourglass shaped gourd with wide mouth at the smaller end.

Unknown artist, Kampala, Uganda; acquired under unknown circumstances by Mildred A. Morton (born 1942?), Falls Church, Va., in Kampala, Uganda, 1993; donated to the National Museum of African Art, Washington, D.C., 2000.
