Summary
This microfilm collection consists of material submitted by 46 African American artists to the National Women's Caucus for Art for the unrealized Contemporary Afro-American Women Artists exhibition. Materials include biographical information, statements about their art, photographs of the women and their work, and printed material.

Biography Note
The National Women's Caucus for Art is part of the College Art Association. The exhibition, commonly known as Contemporary Afro-American Women Artists , but also referred to as The National Exhibition of Contemporary Art by Afro-American Women Spanning the Years of 1950 to the Present , was to be held in conjunction with the College Art Association's annual meeting in 1979. Edith Martin and Tritobia Benjamin were co-curators. The exhibition was cancelled due to lack of funding.
