ETKVL Poltsamaa Pollmajanduskombinat

Summary

This is a tube package of Borshch, or Ukrainian beetroot soup, prepared for use in space. The plastic-coated metal tube contains a single serving of the soup and allows the cosmonaut to empty the tube directly into his or her mouth. The food was processed in Estonia, which was then occupied by the USSR. This specimen was not flown in space. An American donor gave it to the museum in the 1970s.
