Scope and Content Note
Consists of materials collected by Levin for the purpose of writing his many articles; festival, concert, CD, book, and record reviews; and his publication, Classic Jazz: A Personal View of the Music and the Musicians. Materials include magazine articles, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes, e-mail correspondence with other jazz historians, unpublished book manuscripts, and lecture notes. While the materials mostly relate to jazz and jazz musicians, there are articles on such diverse subjects as model trains, radio programming, and the Bosendorfer piano. The materials are arranged in chronological order.
