Scope and Content Note

Consists of black and white and color prints and negatives taken by Floyd and Lucille Levin at social gatherings with musicians, festivals and concerts, and events held by the jazz organizations that the Levins were active members. While many remain unidentified, those that are document jazz festivals primarily in Los Angeles and New Orleans, including the Southern California Hot Jazz Society and the New Orleans Jazz Festival, as well as the opening of exhibitions related to jazz musicians. Also included among the materials are photographs taken at birthday parties for Milt Hinton, Flip Phillips, Abe Lincoln, Rosy McHargue, Spud Murphy, and Ruby Braff. Materials are arranged in chronological order.
