Printed caption pasted below print: "BEFORE FIVE FORKS. / SHERIDAN AT DINWIDDIE COURT HOUSE. / GEN. SHERIDAN, with his cavalry leaders CUSTER, MERRITT, DEVIN, and CROOK, about leaving his Headquarters at Dinwiddie C.H., March 31st, 1865, to reconnoitre Five Forks before making his "Grand Final Move." In the foreground is a field hand describing topography of the country around the Forks; slave block; Confederate cavalry prisoners, and Court House and county buildings in the background."
