Existence and Location of Originals

Original painting by Gustavus Hesselius, ca. 1737, is in Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

Restrictions

An old glass negative of this subject (now deteriorated and gone) was on file in the Bureau of American Ethnology for many years (under Negative Number 805-b) and a print was evidently requested from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania ca. 1947-1952 for reference only. Whether the Historical Society of Pennsylvania is aware that their photograph was copied here is uncertain. In any case, requests for photographs of this painting should be referred to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
