Scope and Contents
Consists of two sets of material in one notebook--
(1) A portion of Powell journal, dated June 11 - July 7, 1871. Also included are a Uintah Ute vocabulary, an outline of "The Story of Shinav's Son and the Bear," "Pa Ute from Hanblin", "Observations from Round Butte south of San Rafael river, September 5, 1871" [compass bearings], "Miricles [Miracles] related by Mormons."
(2) Southern Pauite vocabulary, songs, and outlines of myths.

The contents of Volumes 4 and 11 were originally filed intermingled in MS 2247. In 1959, the pages were separated and transferred to Powell's journals (then MS 1795-a).
