Scope and Contents

A bird's-eye view of the temple grounds of Sensōji in the Asakusa district, popularly known as Asakusa kannon (Goddess of Mercy) temple. Numerous Buddhist religious structures are depicted, as well as streets and dwellings in the surrounding areas and the Sumida River with bridges and watercraft. Additional imprints include Takashima Chūhei, Izumiya Shiei, and Ki(?)mura Hanzō, possibly printers and publishers. On the same mount is a small photograph of the "Modern Sumida River," which shows the river and part of an iron bridge.
