Scope and Contents
Transkei Men At Recruiting Corporation, 1947. There are several men outside a building with a sign that reads "Native Recruiting Corporation Ltd., Kwa Teba." One man is lying on the ground with another man seated next to him. The other men are standing in front, some smoking pipes. Almost all are wearing blankets excpet for one who is wearing a trench coat. These men are waiting to sign on and go to work in the mines. Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1947.
In 1947, Constance Staurt Larrabee visited the Transkei. She was there researching the housing problems in Southern Africa.
There are no prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print for reference purposes.
