General

CDR copy FW-ASCH-7RR-2791is a recording of Hermes Nye, accompanying himself on guitar, singing a variety of English language songs with little in common except their light-hearted or humorous nature. Hermes Nye performed on five solo albums for Folkways; however, none of the songs on this tape seems to have been used by Folkways. The songs are quite varied in origin and subject matter, ranging from an authentic cowboy song to old popular music dialect songs imitating or describing, if not poking fun at, various ethnic groups, such as Germans, Italians and native Americans.
