Folkways 2803 CDR copy--FW-ASCH-7RR-2328 is identical to the Smithsonian Folkways recording, "Jazz, Vol. 3: New Orleans" (FW02803), issued in 1950. Focusing on musician accounts of what music was popular in New Orleans in the early years, the album features 78 rpm records primarily from the 1920's. Included are a variety of well-known jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong, King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton. See the album liner notes, by Frederic Ramsey Jr., for more information.
