General

CDR copy FW-ASCH-5RR-0766 records an airplane flight from New York City to Chicago, IL. No date is provided. Moses Asch's voice is heard briefly, so apparently he made the recording. Moe recorded some of the the pilot's comments, which were often of a somewhat folksy, humorous nature, some of which probably wouldn't be acceptable today (after landing, the city girls should hold on their hats while the country girls should hold on to their skirts). He mentions that the cruising altitude was 20,000 feet, and frequently points out the cities and other geographic features below. He mentioned that some woods below them in PA have good "hunting and fishing." They can't avoid some thunderstorms which he predicted might result in some turbulence, although in reality there wasn't much. A short additional track records some traffic sounds, perhaps while travelling from the airport to wherever he was staying. See other sheet for track titles and durations.
