Scope and Contents
Program featured commentator Alvin "Chick" Webb; an address by Senator Arthur Capper; a dramatization focusing on the necessity for a District of Columbia vote with narration by Mauryne Brent; a roundtable discussion on District of Columbia suffrage; and remarks by Tomlinson D. Todd.
The roundtable participants included Wilbur S. Finch – president of the Federation of Citizens Associations; Senator Arthur Capper of Kansas; Mrs. Robert F. Leonard – president of the District of Columbia League of Women Voters; and Woolsey W. Hall – president of the Federation of Civic Associations.
The fight for suffrage for the District of Columbia included the right to representation in Congress for the American citizens who reside in the District of Columbia; voting rights to elect the president and vice-president of the United States (electoral college); and an amendment to the Constitution of the United States so that Congress can give the District of Columbia a vote.
In address by Senator Arthur Capper, he expressed his sympathy and support for voting rights and representation in Congress for American citizens who reside in the District of Columbia.
This program, which was 13th in the "Americans All" series, was broadcasted on WWDC on June 23, 1946. Crackle, static, and some distortion throughout digital audio surrogates; voices and music intelligible.
