General

According to the negative sleeve, this image is of a painting or drawing made from a miniature of the subject. The sleeve refers to him as "Cousin Grafton Dulany of Baltimore," possibly Grafton L. Dulany, who served as Baltimore City Solicitor from 1855 to 1858. Because of Dulany family connections in northern Virginia, the artwork shown in this photograph may have resided in that state, hence its being assigned a Virginia identification number.
