General
Brandywine Springs has been a park since the early 19th century, first as a mineral springs "resort," then as an amusement park, and finally as the county park that it is today. The toboggan slide was a forerunner of today's roller coaster utilizing a bobsled-like sled or cart controlled by the rider.
