General

Built in 1912 for Dr. Alfred Guido Rudolph Schloesser, Sans Souci lasted a mere 16 years, being demolished in 1928 to make way for an apartment building. Schloesser was an astute real estate developer, among other occupations, who changed his name to A. G. Castle (or Castles) during World War I to avoid anti-German sentiment, although he was a native-born American.
