The Evergreen House was the home of John Work Garrett. The estate was bequeathed to The John Hopkins Univeristy. The house, library and grounds are maintained for the university by the Evergreen Foundation. Italian formal garden was laid out in wide shallow terraces. Trees are clipped into formal shapes. The house is Italian Classical Revival mansion. Remodelled in 1881 by T. Harrison Garett. The library was added in 1928 by John Work Garrett.
