General

Little is known about this garden. Like the Patten Garden (MA333000), the penciled notation "Boston" was written on the glassine sleeve enclosing the original negatives. Also like that garden, the spacious, wooded site depicted in the images does not seem typical of an urban location. An Asian flavor was given to the garden by its inclusion of a torii gate and what appear to be antique bronzes. Daylilies were the featured planting in both beds and borders, and the use of plant labels indicates that this was more than just a casual garden. Rhododendrons and other shrubs, trees, a variety of paths, and other features rounded off the garden's design. It is possible that the garden's owner appears in image MA334012 (not digitized).
