General

This garden appears to have been situated in a rural area amidst woods and fields. The central feature of the site was an herb and perennial garden punctuated by a flagstone walk. Although the location of the property is not identified in Molly Adams's files, there is a remote possibility that this was the William W. Waterman Garden in Gordonsville, Virginia, designed by Alice Recknagel Ireys (included on Irey's client list). Verification of this, however, cannot be determined without corroborating visual evidence. Moreover, it would have been very unusual for Molly Adams to travel so far from her base in northern New Jersey to photograph what appears to have been a minor job, both in terms of garden size and number of images.
