This photograph shows cookbook author Alice B. Toklas (1877–1967) and Gertrude Stein (1874–1946), the writer for whom Toklas served as editor, typist, and homemaker. While living in Paris, these American women together made a life full of art, food, literature, and love. The photographer Man Ray, another American in Paris, portrayed the couple at their apartment in the style of domestic family portraits.
Aquí aparece Alice B. Toklas (1877–1967), autora de un famoso recetario, con la escritora Gertrude Stein (1874–1946), de quien Toklas fue editora, mecanógrafa, pareja y ama de casa. En París, ambas estadounidenses hicieron una vida llena de arte, comida, literatura y amor. El fotógrafo Man Ray, otro estadounidense en París, las captó en su apartamento, al estilo de los retratos hogareños.
