Description
This Nevada Centennial Issue stamp commemorates the 100th anniversary of the first settlement of the current state of Nevada. The United States gained control of the territory following the Mexican-American War. The Carson River Valley, depicted on the stamp, was first settled by Mormon settlers, as a way-station post for westward travelers.
